"Good Morning America" explains PRP hair restoration procedures like the one Bellamedica has pioneered.
A simple way to understand of how hair grows is to picture a garden. How well it grows is completely the result of what is happening “underground.” “Like a garden, a normal hair cycle should lead to a healthy product, which is the hair,” says Samira Ummat, a board certified MD at Bellamedica. “Growth cycles are important because when they go awry, that is one of the reasons we have hair loss.”
And things that interfere with the cycle like genetics, medications, illness, infection, or chemicals, have the potential to stop hair from being formed properly. "It’s a very dynamic place and anything that offsets that cycle can cause hair loss,” Dr. Ummat says. Most men notice it in their late 30's, but it can happen at any age and for a variety of reasons.
The good news, however, is that whatever the cause, we now have the technology to stop and reverse that hair loss.
You might be skeptical that anything can truly work to help you regrow your own hair. We understand. While we were hopeful when we began to pioneer these treatments, even we still find it hard to believe how well they work. We regularly achieve results for our patients that empower them to fill in balding spots and regrow a full, luscious head of hair. Physician managed. Natural results. Costing 60% to 80% less compared to risky, expensive hair transplant surgery does.
You owe it to yourself to discover what the medical alternatives for hair restoration can do for you. You just might be shocked what can be achieved today.

Hair treatment technology has now developed to a point where Platelet Rich Plasma injections ("PRP") provide the leading non-surgical alternative to traditional hair transplants. PRP treatments offer significant advantages compared to hair transplants. First and foremost, hair transplants require surgery, which means all the risks surgery entails. The procedure surgically removes hair follicles from one part of the body and then moves them to the balding areas of the scalp.
As a result, if you choose a hair transplant, each individual hair follicle will need to be placed on your scalp. This process is painstaking and time-consuming, often taking twelve hours or more to complete. Both anesthesia and sedation are required to complete a hair transplant.
In comparison, PRP hair restoration therapies are fast, effective, and relatively inexpensive.
First, unlike hair transplants, PRP hair restoration doesn't require anesthesia or recovery time. With hair transplants, you often miss three days of work. Bellamedica's PRP hair restoration treatments take an hour or two, have zero downtime, and few undesirable side effects.
Second, when you get a hair transplant, the aftermath is often visible for a month or more after the procedure. This means that if you choose a hair transplant, everyone will know you had hair surgery. With Bellamedica's PRP hair restoration program, by contrast, the only evidence you had anything done is minor redness to the treated area—and the hair you begin to regrow in your natural, full pattern.
Finally, another big benefit of PRP hair restoration compared to hair transplant surgery is cost. Hair transplant clinics will charge per skin graft, and a typical hair transplant procedure can cost from $20,000 to upwards of $35,000. Bellamedica's hair restoration procedure is 65% to 80% less expensive—and for most patients, the results of PRP hair restoration is a fuller, more natural-looking head of hair compared to hair transplants.

Once treatment begins, 100% PRP (from your own blood) is injected into the upper layer of your scalp, wherever your hair loss occurs. Ice, or cooling jets are used to alleviate any discomfort you may have during the procedure. The treatment typically takes less than an hour. Your physician may offer you the option of local anesthetic before they begin the PRP injections. Most patients just feel pressure during treatment with little to no pain.
Used for decades as part of medical wound-healing techniques, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is derived from a patient’s own blood. Plasma, the liquid portion of the blood consisting mostly of proteins and water, circulates red and white blood cells as well as platelets throughout the body. Platelets, which are the cells that cause the blood to clot, contain growth factors. Two of these proteins, FGF and PDGF, promote cell growth and tissue repair as well as the production of the proteins collagen and elastin.
For patients at Bellamedica, PRP therapy relies on a patient’s own blood to help restore the hair and repair hair follicles. This virtually eliminates any chance for an individual to experience an allergic reaction or for the body to reject the treatments. As with any type of injection, there is a slight risk for patients to experience an infection, injury to blood vessels and nerves, as well as scar tissue. However, when the procedure is performed by a board ceritfied medical professional such as those at Bellamedica, patients are more likely to have a positive experience with their PRP therapy treatments.
With PRP therapy, some types of hair loss respond better than others. This is especially true for hair loss resulting from various forms of an autoimmune disorder called alopecia. Hereditary hair thinning called androgenetic alopecia is better known as male pattern baldness. Don’t let the name fool you: This condition affects both men and women. PRP therapy is also beneficial for women who experience traction alopecia, thinning hair that results from wearing braids, ponytails and other styles that pull out the hair.
It's hard to say without seeing the patient first. We need to see how large or small the hair loss area is, if there is any hair Follicles, and the over all health of the individual. We offer a FREE consultation to make these determinations and Quote a price for success. You can Schedule online at www.bellamedica.com/freeconsultation
Studies have shown that the best candidates for PRP therapy are those whose hair loss is recent since it can be difficult to revive long-dormant hair follicles. Ideally, a patient’s scalp will feature areas of so-called “weak-quality” hair growth where functioning hair follicles remain. In most cases, patients who are completely bald may not experience all of the benefits associated with PRP therapy since it is unlikely to regrow all of the hair that has been lost.
Patients should be in good overall health and not suffering from specific types of skin issues, blood and liver disorders, or diabetes. Certain medications may impact one’s ability to undergo PRP therapy. After reviewing your medical history, the skilled professionals at Bellamedica will expertly determine whether you are a good candidate for PRP therapy.
As part of PRP therapy at Bellamedica, a small amount of a patient’s own blood is drawn and spun twice in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red and white blood cells.Areas of the scalp that are targeted for treatment will be numbed with a local or topical anesthetic. Injections with an ultra-fine needle are made just below the scalp and the PRP will be administered to heal damaged hair follicles and stimulate new hair growth.
Most PRP hair restoration treatments take about an hour or less to complete. A microneedling treatment will also be included with the procedure. Microneedling is used to create tiny holes on the scalp. The micro-injuries that are created trigger the body to produce collagen and elastin to heal the damaged skin. This complements and further enhances the healing work accomplished by PRP injections.
Although everyone’s experience is different, in general, most patients at Bellamedica can expect to see improvements in the quality of their hair within 4-6 months after PRP therapy.
Follow-up appointments will be scheduled during this time to observe and track the progress of a patient’s hair regrowth. To further improve the health of the follicles and promote future hair growth, additional PRP treatments may be recommended every 12-18 months.
